Documenting the art collection of the University of Turku – Over 100 works in ultra-resolution
I documented a large art collection at the University of Turku, immortalizing over a hundred works in high resolution of 200-250 megapixels. The imagery was produced for both an online library and a printed book, enabling the collection to be preserved in detail and high quality for future generations. Capturing the art collection in high resolution provided a unique opportunity to highlight the detail and value of the collection in a way that had not been possible before.
The University of Turku Art Collection – a legacy spanning more than a century
The university’s art collection has been built up over more than a century through donations and collaboration, and represents a diverse mix of academic culture, history and art. The aim of the project was to honour the historical and cultural value of the collection and to support the University of Turku’s mission to promote culture and research.
Exceptional precision brings out the details of art
This high-resolution imaging offered an unprecedented way to capture the details of the works – every brushstroke, subtle texture and nuance of the artist’s hand was captured in greater detail than ever before.
This not only serves the needs of art history and research, but also allows the public to dive deep into the essence of the works through an online gallery.
Preserving university history and art – A tribute to cultural heritage
The aim of the project was to respect the historical and cultural value of the works of art and to support the University of Turku’s mission to promote culture and research. This work was not only a technical challenge, but also an opportunity to dive into the rich world of art and university history – and at the same time to make visible the long cherished heritage of the university community.
